MySQL and MSSQL Server

The WINXP SP2 workstation onto which I hope to install KnowledgeTree Open Source currently runs an application which uses MSSQL Server. Should I anticipate any conflict between these SQL packages, and/or should I modify my installation of KnowledgeTree?? Also, do I have to open a Router port (Like with FTP servers) and forward it to the KnowledgeTree machine's IP?
