Known Issues

 • IWI-222: Certain characters prevent XML validation, causing upload to fail

XML requires that the following characters are replaced when used as field values in an XML:

& (Ampersand): &

< (Left angle bracket): <

> (Right angle bracket): >

" (Quotation mark): "

' (Apostrophe): '

Example: <KT:Title>&ExampleTitle</KT:Title> should be <KT:Title>&ExampleTitle</KT:Title>).

 • IWI-292: Empty folders remain in the folder structure in the watchfolder and are not added to KnowledgeTree

This issue occurs only when the empty folder is a leaf folder. The workaround for uploading empty folders is to add a dummy file, __ktdummy.txt, to the empty leaf folder. The empty folder is uploaded, but not the dummy file. Note that for Advanced mode, an XML must be created for the dummy txt file.

 • IWI-293: On Windows 2003 Server 32-bit, folder upload fails when using Move instead of Copy to place folders into the watchfolder

Copying a folder structure to the watchfolder (using Ctrl-C or right click menu Copy option) allows successful upload, moving a folder structure to the watchfolder (using Ctrl-X or the right click Cut option) causes upload to fail. Related calls: IWI-372

 • IWI-365: KnowledgeTree Hot Folders Service stops automatically when the 'Watch Folder' is created on the Desktop

Defining the path to the KnowledgeTree Hot Folders 'watchfolder' as 'Desktop' stops KnowledgeTree Hot Folders from working, and the following error displays in the log file: 'The directory name C:\Documents and Settings\admin\Desktop\WF is invalid.' The workaround is to ensure that the watchfolder is placed in C:/ root. Related call: IWI-366

 • IWI-366: KnowledgeTree Hot Folders (watch, archive and failure) do not work when placed on the Desktop

This issue occurs on Microsoft Windows Server 2003, XP, and Visa. In these environments, only services that are running under the 'System account' are allowed to interact with the Desktop. For security reasons, KnowledgeTree Hot Folders does not run under this account, so its processing folders (watch, archive, failure) will not work when placed on the Desktop. Related call: IWI-365

 • IWI-368: When uploading a large number of files, some files fail to upload and are dropped in the failurefolder with the following system message: 'Upload error: Could not add files to the system. Please inspect the log file. DB Error: constraint violation'. The workaround is to move the affected files from the failurefolder to the watchfolder. Related call: IWI-364

 • IWI-372: On Windows 2003 Server 32-bit, when attempting to upload files to the KnowledgeTree Hot Folders 'watchfolder' using a 'move' action, the following error message displays: 'System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path is denied.' The workaround is to use the 'copy' action, not the 'move' action, to upload files to the watchfolder. Note that this issue has passed testing and does not occur in the following environments: Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows XP. Related calls: IWI-203, IWI-293

Defect Repairs

 • IWI-293: Folders not uploaded when a 'move' action is used instead of a copy action to get folders into the watchfolder

This issue is fixed on Microsoft Windows Vista and on Microsoft Windows XP. This issue still occurs on Microsoft Server 2003 (see Known Issues above). Related call: IWI-372

 • IWI-361: Unhandled exception when moving default folders to a non-existent directory.

If the folder cannot be found, the user may click through to the KnowledgeTree Hot Folders Settings dialog box where they can specify the relevant folder. Fixed. Closed.

 • IWI-372: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path is denied' error when attempting to upload files using a 'move' method

This issue is fixed on Microsoft Windows Vista and on Microsoft Windows XP. This issue still occurs on Microsoft Server 2003 (see Known Issues above). Related call: IWI-293
