Introduction
This page provides instructions for downloading and installing KnowledgeTree Open Source Appliance.

Installation
Perform the following steps:

Step 1. Prepare the Server
Prepare a dedicated, virtual or physical, server.
- KnowledgeTree Appliance must be installed to a dedicated, clean, physical or virtual server.
- KnowledgeTree Appliance includes its own operating system and therefore overwrites any pre-installed information at the install location.
- The Appliance management interface and the document management system interface are accessed and configured from a separate client machine.

Step 2: Download
- Go to the download area via the KnowledgeTree website
- Go to the download area at rPath

Select a Build Type
KnowledgeTree Appliance is available in a variety of builds. Click here to find out more about the different Software Appliance build types, including definitions and use-cases.

Check Install Instructions for Your Build Type
Install instructions for the ISO Image Files (CD/DVD) differs slightly to the other build types:
- ISO image files, burned to CD/DVD?
The ISO image, on a CD/DVD, is installed onto a physical Server, requiring a few additional installation steps, such as formatting your hard drive and configuring the Firewall. When enabling the firewall, ensure that you allow traffic to HTTP and HTTPS ports. To do this, allow access to the following service: 'Web Server (HTTP, HTTPS)'. When you're done, go to step 4.
- Other build types - i.e Virtual Server? Go to step 4.

Download KnowledgeTree Appliance

Step 3.Launch KnowledgeTree Appliance
After downloading KnowledgeTree Appliance, launch the system on the server where it is installed.
*KnowledgeTree Appliance is now installed. Note the URLs to the Document Management System and to the Appliance Management Console, on the Server's command line interface.

Step 4: Complete Initial Setup
Go to Configuring KnowledgeTree Appliance to complete the initial set up of the system.

- configure the KnowledgeTree Appliance Framework, using the Appliance Configuration Wizard
- configure KnowledgeTree settings through the KnowledgeTree Open Source Appliance Management Interface
