Install Notes 

Important: This is a Beta release of the new PHP5 and MySQL 5-based KnowledgeTree server. We 
recommend that you do not use this release in a production environment.

KnowledgeTree Commercial

1. Download all KnowledgeTree Commercial components:

  • KnowledgeTree Client Tools for Windows
  • KnowledgeTree DWI Service - optional
  • KnowledgeTree License (SMB/Enterprise, or Enterprise Trial)
  • KnowledgeTree server

2. Install all downloaded KnowledgeTree Commercial components:

3. Add your license in the web interface DMS Administration module

4. Configure a connection from KnowledgeTree Explorer to the KnowledgeTree server

Deleting a fieldset does not remove all instances of itself and existing field and document type associations. The issue was resolved so that, on deleting the fieldset, the system checks for any document type associations and removes them.

Error when trying to view RSS Feed. Fixed so that there should be a proper error message displayed when the network connection is not working.

Spelling and grammar errors on the 'Manage Lookup Tree' page in the DEV 3.5.0 build. The following errors were fixed on the Manage Lookup Tree page:

    • 'Austalasia' changed to 'Australasia'
    • 'Sub-saharan Africa' changed to 'Sub-Saharan Africa'
    • 'toplevel' changed to 'top-level'
    • 'Pakistan, India' changed to 'Pakistan, India, etc.'

Performance was very slow.

On expiry of the Commercial License, users could no longer access the DMS. This was modified so that, when the Commercial License expires, users are still provided with access to KnowledgeTree Open Source, but the Commercial Plugins are disabled. A Dashboard alert, which displays 30 days prior to the date the Commercial license is due to expire, reminds the system administrator to renew the commercial license.

When attempting to add a document, an onscreen message said 'Creating Database Entry', but the document was not added to the system.

Error when attempting to convert a KnowledgeTree license file to PDF in Fedora Core 5. Attempting to convert a license file to PDF under Fedora Core 5 resulted in the following error message: 'Could not load doc'. On Windows there was no option to convert the license file to PDF. It was suspected that this error was related to the perceived mime type of '.lic'. On Windows '.lic' would not be seen as a type that could be converted to PDF (based on the extension), so the option was unavailable. On Linux, it was suspected that mime magic detected '.lic' as a text file, which should convert properly to PDF.

Files uploaded with the 'Import from Server Location' action are MOVED instead of COPIED to the DMS. The following fix applied for KnowledgeTree 3.4.5: Only temporary files that have been uploaded are deleted after the copy into the DMS. 'Import from Server' copies the files off the Server, without uploading them. The following fix applied for KnowledgeTree 3.5.2: Added a flag into the aOptions array to copy the documents into the DMS, instead of moving them.

Tags associated with deleted documents were still showing in the Tag Clouds dashlet. Fixed. The SQL query was altered to ignore deleted documents.

When installing 3.4.5 on openSUSE, a firefox-bin error is displayed. After installing commercial version of ktdms DEV3.4.5 there was an error on the terminal. This did not stop ktdms from running, although it had to be started manually using the URL.


BaobabKeyUtil::getFirstFreeKey() returns SQL error if there are no keys, resulting in a db error - fixed. There was a error that wasn't trapped correctly resulting in a subsequent db error being logged. The error occurred when there was no licenses in the system. The fix was added to check for a zero param.
